In League One, Wycombe Wanderers presently hold the final promotion play-off spot. The play-offs appear to be their last chance to return to the Championship as they are 13 points off of the second and final automatic promotion berth. The race for first place is close, although Wycombe has created more chances than most of its nearest competitors. Boxing Day saw Wanderers defeat Bristol Rovers 2-1 at home after giving up a goal in the fourth minute. That was their second straight league triumph, the other being a crucial 1-0 home success over Ipswich Town, who were in second place at the time. If Wycombe wants to finish in the play-off spots, they will need to improve their league away record. Among their 11 road league games, only four have resulted in victories.
