Should I play a low pocket pair such as 22?

Pocket pairs, whether high or low, present an interesting dilemma in poker. Low pairs like 22 have value early but fade as the hand unfurls, risky yet reraise-worthy if the action comes around to you. They can go from strongest to weakest hand in an instant. As such, playing 22 comes down to the overall context - if it's early, you have position, and bets remain small, 22 may stand up well enough to see a flop. But enter a large raise and 22 quickly becomes 22 cents. Every hand must be weighed based on odds, not just the size of your pocket pair. Luck and leery come hand in hand at the poker table, my friend.
