Two people arrested in Indiana for running illegal gambling business

Recently, two people were taken into custody on suspicion of operating an illegal gaming business out of a barbershop in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Nice Cut Barbershop operation was carried out by two criminals. Between September 2022 and June 2023, the pair sold lottery tickets at the location in an improper manner.

Authorities claimed that the two operated a "borlette," or "Haitian lottery," out of business. In such a scheme, the seller is paid via a money transfer service, and the numbers that are played are frequently disclosed in an improper manner.

There, undercover cops paid $20 apiece for borlette tickets. The establishment had gaming machines as well.
