University of Cincinnati baseball program cleared of sports betting scandal

The University of Cincinnati’s baseball program has been exonerated from any involvement in a sports betting scandal that rocked the collegiate baseball community earlier this year. The snafu had wide-reaching consequences for the University of Cincinnati’s baseball staff. Following the revelation of the violations, the head coach chose to step down in June after mixed fortunes in the 2023 season. The university swiftly moved to fill the vacancy.

While cleaning up scandals is important, I feel bad for the head coach being caught in the middle. Stepping down was the right move to distance the program, but it must have been hard to lose his job over something he maybe didn't do. At least the school was quick to replace him so they don't fall too far behind in rebuilding for next year.
