The main goal of the game of baccarat is to place a wager on the hand that will have a sum that is nearest to 9. During the game, participants are given the option to place bets on either the hand of the player, the hand of the banker, or on a tie between the two. The calculation of the hand values is done by adding up the values of the individual cards. In this calculation, cards numbered 2 through 9 retain their face value, while cards numbered 10 and all face cards hold no value and are considered as 0. Additionally, Aces are valued at 1. Ultimately, the player whose hand holds a total value that is the closest to 9 emerges victorious and wins the game.
