Hello everyone,

I enjoy playing single draw poker at the casino with my friends and wanted to start a discussion about the best strategies for when to play your hand and when to fold. In single draw poker, you need to make the most of the one chance you get to improve your hand, so deciding when to fold vs playing can make a big difference in your results.

Personally, I tend to play very conservatively and fold most hands unless I have at least a pair of Jacks or better. Even then, I'll evaluate how many players are left and the size of the pot before committing my chips. Harsh as it sounds, I find folding most of the time to be the safest tactic and it limits my losses. However, I'm always curious to hear how more aggressive players make their decisions.

What strategies do you use at the single draw poker table to determine when it's worth playing your hand versus folding to preserve your chips? Any tips or lessons learned from experience are welcome! Let's discuss some good tactics over a cocktail at the casino bar after the game. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.
